James Louis “Jim” Clark passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 5, 1931 to James Glover (Jim) Clark and Laura Lou “Sweet” Blair Clark, he grew up with his four sisters: Elizabeth, Dorothy, Louise and Shirley – on the family farm outside of Madison. Due to Sweet passing away in 1939, the five children were raised by their father.
In 1951, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force, spending 20 years traveling the world before retiring honorably from the military in 1971, at Pope AFB, N.C. He then returned to his home town of Madison, where he resumed farming and continued his life long passion for collecting and restoring old cars. He was a past member of the Cattleman’s Association and the South Georgia Classic Car Club, a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Madison, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Clark, of Madison; two sons, Gavin Clark (with wife Chris), of Tavares, Fla. and Keith Clark (with wife Lori), of Madison; and three grandchildren: Alexa Clark, of Madison, Matthew Clark (with wife Emma), of Sioux City, Iowa and Dexter Clark, of Madison.
A funeral service was held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Fla., with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Madison, Fla. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center, 2481 W. US 90, Madison, Fla. 32340.
