Mr. James Oglesby Bunting, 79, passed away on July 22, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla. Jimmy was born January 23, 1943, in Madison, Fla. to James Loddy Bunting and Jewel Oglesby Bunting. He was a graduate of Madison High School where he played football and basketball. He earned a bachelor's degree in History from Valdosta State University. Jimmy joined the US Army Reserve where he served two years. He worked as Florida State Trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol for two years, served as a teacher for Madison County Middle School for a brief period, then served 20 years with the Madison County Sheriff's Department where he retired as a Chief Deputy. Following his retirement, he taught law enforcement at North Florida Community College. Jimmy was of the Christian faith and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was also a member of Madison’s Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and growing a garden. He was preceded in death by, his parents; Jim and Jewel Bunting, and a daughter, Marie Waldrop.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Denson Bunting; a daughter; Liz Miller, of Cherry Lake; a son; Jim Bunting and wife, Kim, of Jasper, Fla; a brother; Bill Bunting and wife, Janis, of Madison; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. A private family internment will take place at a later date. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
