J. W. Durst, 81, of Pinetta, went home to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 28, at his son’s home.
He was born on May 29, 1935, in Hahira, Ga., to the late James William Durst, Sr. and Annie Bell Wood Durst.
Mr. Durst was retired from Pan Coatings in Jacksonville, and after retirement, he worked with his son at A & M Electric. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, in Madison.
Mr. Durst is survived by his wife, Irene Parks Durst, of Cecil, Ga.; two daughters, Becky Durst (Robert Foote), of Murfreesboro, Tn., and Joanne Dobbs (Rodney Hoover) of St. Augustine, Fl.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sabrina Durst, of Pinetta; 11 grandchildren: Ashliegh Hinton, Amy Hinton, Joanna Hinton, Kara Leslie, Lil’ Jimmy Durst, Emily Durst, Hayley Durst, Chloe Durst, Frankie Dobbs, Jeremy Dobbs and Jeremiah Hoover; one great-grandson, Wyatt Rayfield; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Danny Powell, of Monroe, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Jim Warren, of Valdosta, and many nieces and nephews.
His wife of 50 years, Vera Ellen Warren Durst, and his parents precede him in death.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 30, at 11 a. m., in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home, in Hahira, with Pastor Jackie Watts officiating. Burial followed at Westview Cemetery in Nashville, Ga.
The family received friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a. m. on Thursday, June 30, at the funeral home.
