On April 29, 1992, Delray Miller, Sr. and Angelee Harp became the proud parents of Javaris Calvon Miller. Except for the last three years that he lived in Tallahassee, Fla., he lived his entire life in Havana, Fla., where he was widely known as “Duke.” He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Everlene Miller; his brother, Jerry Kirkland and maternal grandfather, Freddie Lee Bradley.
A graveside celebration of life service, with COVID-19 restrictions, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, on the lawn of Crestview Cemetery, in Cairo, Ga. A public viewing and visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 in the sanctuary of The Love Foundation Outreach Ministry, in Havana, Fla.
Following his 2010 graduation from East Gadsden High School, Javaris sought employment at Florida Fencing and for a year, he worked at Ultimate Fencing.
Feeling the need to re-establish priorities and to seek a closer relationship with the Lord, Javaris professed his belief in God and joyfully accepted Him as his personal Savior on March 6 of this year. He also became a member of Love Foundation Outreach Ministry in Havana, Fla.
Javaris loved being a father to his son who also shared his name and he spent as much time with him as possible. He also loved basketball, fishing, NBA 2K21 video games and the Florida “Gators.”
Death is the last chapter in time but the first chapter in eternity. Javaris’s final chapter ended on Friday, April 30, 2021. Although his loved ones’ hearts are heavy, may they find comfort in knowing that he has begun his new chapter in eternity with the Lord.
