Jerome Lee Wright, 54, of Monticello, Fla., gladly answered when the master called him from earthly time to time eternal, on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. Graveside Life Services, with full U.S. Marine Corps Honors, will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, on the lawn of Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee. Public viewing and visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, in the sanctuary of Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church, 5871 South Salt Road, in Monticello.
Jerome was the younger twin born to James R. Wright and Manuel Perry Wright. He was a 1984 graduate of Mainland High School, in Daytona Beach, FL. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning the rank of Lance Corporal. Following his tour of duty, he relocated to the family farm in Monticello.
He never met a stranger, for he quickly found common interest and had meaningful conversations. He enjoyed being there for others-- helping the elderly and fellow veterans by driving them to their appointments, volunteering as a mentor and chaperone and being a positive role model. He was also an avid reader; one who earned many skills and certifications.
Jerome accepted Christ early in life and was a member of Salem A.M.E. Church, in Monticello, Fla.
Cherishing his legacy of life and love are his mother, Manuel Lee Wright; siblings: Alvin J. (Vivian) Wright, Sam (Darla) Cooper and Dana Cooper; forever soulmate, Katrina A. Aikens; aunt, Celestine (Albert Jr.) Thomas; uncle, Ernest (Mattie) Wright; nephew, Jermaine (Serita) Cooper; niece, Jerchelle (Stefon) Jean'Poix; first cousins: Patricia (Max) Stubbins, Vincent Wright and Shirlyn (Larry) Thomas; and many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided to the Wright Family, with love, care and uncompromising dignity, by the Hall-Moore Funeral Directors at Tillman Funeral Home of Madison, (850) 973-6677.
