Jesse M. "Squeaky" Cone, age 87, left this life Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1932 in Greenville, Fla. to John C. and Myrtle Bishop Cone. He graduated from Madison High School in 1950. He was in the US Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a rural letter carrier for the US Postal Service and retired after 31 years and was a farmer and cattleman. He was also a charter member and a Deacon of Landmark Baptist Church, in Madison, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah Ann "Bootsie" Byington Cone; one daughter, Beverly Cone Hamrick; and one son, Richard Cone (Lindy), all of Greenville, Fla.; three sisters: Betty Cone Blake, of Madison; Margie Cone Bass, of Lake City; and Myrtle Cone Hutcherson (Victor), of Madison; one sister-in-law, Mary Gilbert Cone, of Conyers, Ga.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John C. and Myrtle Bishop Cone; and one brother, Roger A. Cone.
Visitation was held at Beggs Funeral Home Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Landmark Baptist Church, 3399 US Hwy. 90, Madison, Fla. at 10:30 am on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Interment will follow at New Hopeful Cemetery, Greenville, Fla. (During visitation, people are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.)
