Jewell Douberly Morse, 88, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on April 22, 2021, in Pinetta, FL. Jewell was born August 31, 1932 in Olustee, Florida to Herman Reed Douberly and Mildred Estelle Lee Douberly.
Jewell was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Hanson United Methodist Church. Jewell worked as a bookkeeper with The Newton Company in Lake City, Fla., for many years. She was a loving caregiver to adults and loved to take care of children; especially her grandchildren. She was known as Granny Jewell to many in the community. Jewell was well known for her cooking skills and being an immaculate housekeeper. She loved to garden and put-up vegetables and fruits, including jellies.She loved to grow flowers and create beautiful floral arrangements.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents Herman Reed and Mildred Estelle (Lee) Douberly and her brother, Danny Douberly.
Jewell is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas Morse; children: Carol Whitman (Tommy), Robbie Morse (Tracey), Shawn Rogers; brother: Charles Douberly (Celia); sister: Marie Whitely (Carl); grandchildren: Jason Morse, Robyn Morse, Haley Rogers, Thomas Rogers, Reed Morse, and Harley Rogers; three great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison with Rev. Michael Halley officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
