JoAnn Leggett Pittman, 85, went peacefully into the arms of our Lord, Saturday, April 17, 2021, at her home in Greenville. Joann passed with her daughter, Julie, and granddaughter, Samantha, comforting her as she transitioned into the glory of Heaven.
JoAnn was the youngest of four children of Albert Lee and Thelma Mills (Sebbye) Leggett, born on Nov. 2, 1935, in Greenville, Fla. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. (Bob) Pittman; brother, Rev. Albert Lee Jr.; and sister, Martha Bryan (Leggett) Brown. JoAnn’s loving sister, Lettie Lou Bradshaw will celebrate her 93rd birthday in May. Joann was married to Bob until his death, in 2011.
JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Julie Jarrell; and son, Dallas Grover Boothe, Jr. (Sheree). JoAnn was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Samantha, Christopher, Amanda, Chrystal, Ian (Julie), Jasmine and Marquesas (Dallas). JoAnn was truly blessed with 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, who will carry her with them throughout their lives.
JoAnn retired from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles after many years serving as a Human Resources Officer. She met Bob in Tallahassee, where they resided until retirement. JoAnn and Bob came back to Greenville where they together made a beautiful home with a yard that any master gardener would envy. They loved to travel, and they loved the Florida State Seminoles. JoAnn enjoyed fishing, especially when she was able to spend time with Lettie Lou, fishing in the lake at her nephew, Lee’s, house in Groveland. JoAnn could surely tell some “fish tales” and bring a smile to those who loved her.
A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Fla. Pastor Nancy Leggett Case will officiate.
