John Cecil Buckhalt, age 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center.
He was born in Miami, Fla. to Cecil Edward and Dorothy Lohman Buckhalt on April 13, 1939. He moved to Lake Park, Ga. in 2017 from Palm Bay, Fla., where he worked many years and retired from Harris Corporation, located in Palm Bay, Fla. He enjoyed much of his retirement between Palm Bay and the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
John graduated from Madison High School in 1957 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. He loved hunting, camping, music and woodworking. He could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Hammock Buckhalt; one son, John Edward Buckhalt (Maricela) of Titusville, Fla.; one daughter, Kimberly Buckhalt of Palm Bay, Fla.; one sister, Carmen Buckhalt Lawson (Ronnie) of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren: Sidney Buckhalt of Titusville, Fla., Eric Buckhalt of Orlando, Fla. and Shannon Buckhalt of Pensacola, Fla.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel. Interment followed at Cherry Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
