John “Johnny” Emmerson Timmons, Sr., age 87, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home, in Lee, Fla. Johnny was a man of God and loved the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Mr. Timmons was born on April 9, 1933, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to Ronald E. and Lena McGowan Timmons.
After receiving his high school diploma, he completed his plumbers and pipe fitter’s degree. He served as a member in good standing with the Pipefitters and Welders Local Union #630 West Palm Beach, Fla. for 55 years.
He met Shirly, his wife, when she was 15 years old and they have been together ever since.
Johnny enjoyed farming, fishing, camping, sitting by the fire, country music, old westerns, oysters, scotch and spear fishing. He was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church, in Lee.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Timmons, Sr.; a brother, Wilson Ronald Timmons; and a sister, Mary Timmons Dickerson.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Callaway Timmons, of Lee, Fla.; two sons, John E. Timmons, Jr. of Macclenny, Fla. and Edward E Timmons of Lee, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy T. Rygwalski and her husband David Rygwalski of Lee, Fla. and Cindy Timmons Tschudi of Lee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his buddies, three of the four “Musketeers,” Dick Matthews, Billy Matthews and Donald Coker.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 202, at 11 a.m., at Midway Baptist Church in Lee, Fla. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the same day, in the church.
