John Lee Mays, Sr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at North Florida Regional Medical Center, in Gainesville. He was born in Lee, to the late Clemmie (Williams) Mays Graham and lived in Madison for most of his life.
He is survived by his former wife, Annie Pearl (Davis) Reddick; three sons: Johnnie B. (Sandy) Givens and John Lee (Joyce) Mays, Jr., both of Madison; Henry Lee (Tracey) Mays, of Jacksonville; two daughters: Cassandra R. Mays and Shauntay Williams, both of Madison; six brothers: Ulysses Mays, Carl (Josie) Graham, Jimmie L. Graham, Charlie (Ceola) Graham, Joe (Marilyn) Graham, Jr., and Rueben (Lucrecia) Graham, all of Madison; three sisters: Susan M. Wesley, Betty A. Graham and Mary R. Graham, all of Madison; two aunts: Bessie Monlyn and Mae Beaulah Sapp, both of Madison; one uncle, Charlie Rae (Carolyn) Williams of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at Pineland Missionary Baptist Church, located at 205 SE Old County Camp Rd., in Madison. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooks and Cooper Funeral Home, located at 162 SW Third Ave., in Madison.
