Mrs. Karen B. Abbott, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, in Pinetta, Fla. Mrs. Abbott was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Canajoharie, N.Y. to Earl Henry Westerman and Bernice MacFee Westerman. She was an Alum of Madison High School, where she played on the girl's basketball team. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cherry Lake Baptist Church. Karen worked in retail sales and was the former owner and operator of Abbott’s Grocery in Madison. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, not only to her own children but to all the kids in the Pinetta community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Abbott Sr.; her parents, Earl and Bernice Westerman; and a son, Robbie Abbott.
She is survived by a son, Gary Abbott, and wife Cindy, of Jasper, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Hall, and husband Kenny, of Pinetta; a daughter-in-law, Tammie Abbott, of Lake Park, Ga.; a sister, Sandy Yates; a brother, David Westerman, and wife Lynn, all of Cherry Lake, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, in Cherry Lake Methodist Cemetery, with Rev. Gary Abbott, Rev. Murrell Bennett and Rev. Trent Abbott officiating. All arrangements were under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
