Karen Sue Houser, 77, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sept. 1, 2020 in Tallahassee, Fla. surrounded by her family. She was born on Jan. 1, 1943 in Salem, Ohio to Ralph Donald and Gertrude Eldora Ackerman (Sauerwein).
She was a believer in Christ and was a member of Valdosta Church of the Nazarene in Valdosta, Ga. Karen was a devoted homemaker with many talents that include being an excellent seamstress, quilter, baker…the list goes on and on, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Donald and Gertrude Eldora Ackerman (Sauerwein); her son, Dale Houser; her son-in-law, Jay Johnson; her brother, Donald Ackerman; her mother-in-law, Mary Eleanor Houser; and father-in-law, John Lewis Houser.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Delmar Lewis Houser; her children: John (Marlene) Houser, Windy (Jeremiah) Oglageo, Scott (Wendy) Houser and Annette Houser Johnson; her grandchildren: Dale (Brittany) Houser, Jr., Kelley (Trevor) Huss, Ashleigh (Hayden) Kanikkeberg, Caitlin Houser, Jacob Johnson, Jarod Johnson, Micah Houser and Jonah Houser; her great grandchildren: Ryley Huss, Trevor Huss II, Landon Houser, Kyleigh Russell, Max Houser and Keegan Huss; her siblings: Dennis (Carol) Ackerman, Robert (Julie) Ackerman and Cheryl (Tom) Bell; her sibling in-laws: Rita (Arnold) Fitzsimmons, Roy (Linda) Houser and Sally Anderson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison with Pastor John Houser and Pastor Charles Barden officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Hanson United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James Madison Preparatory High School, 176 NW Crane Ave., Madison, Fla. 32340 (jmphs.org).
