On Saturday, Sept. 24 Katie Burnett, originally of Greenville, was honored for her services with Madison Fire Rescue (MFR). Katie was the first female full-time firefighter at MFR. A special dinner was held at the fire station with representatives of fire services in Madison as well, Emergency Medical Services, Madison Police Department and Emergency Management were present to give Burnett a grand send off to her new station in Tallahassee. Burnett will be working with the Tallahassee Fire Department and will be a positive addition to their fire fighting resources. She was surrounded by family, friends and first responders as she received a plaque that noted her service to the Madison community.
