Kay B. Joseph Cochran went to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 339 SE Osgood Ave. at 12 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Concord Cemetery, in Greenville. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ganzy Funeral Home.
She received her early education in Madison and Valdosta, Ga. She then furthered her education in medicine and worked in healthcare at Madison Correctional Institute for many years until her retirement.
She received Christ at an early age, joining Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later joined New Bethel P. B. Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories her two daughters: Kaytrena Joseph, of Madison; and Alfena “Connie” Rascoe, of Laurel, Md; two sisters, Margaret Joseph Townsend and Mattie Gillyard, both of Madison; one brother, Joseph Gillyard Jr. (Louise), of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; two grandsons: Mark Smith Jr., of Jonesboro, Ga.; and Kammeron Joseph, of Madison; two devoted nieces, LaShannon Joseph, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and LaTanya Townsend, of Tallahassee, Fla.; one devoted nephew, Gregory Townsend Sr., of Madison; a close friend Joe Willie Thomas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
