Kelly Horne, an Aucilla Christian Academy Junior, has committed to play softball at Troy University and become a Lady Trojan. This season, Horne, along with the 2015 Lady Warriors softball team, brought home the FHSAA Class 2A State Championship trophy; the first-ever in Aucilla's history. She finished the season with a batting average of .479, an on-base percentage of .661, a slugging percentage of .808, 22 RBIs, 35 hits and seven stolen bases. Horne is a force to be reckoned with. “We were playing at Lake City Columbia, down 1-0 against the Tigers with Kelly up to bat,” recalls Head Coach Becky Lauth. “I have never heard a crowd more silent than when Kelly crushed the ball over left field fence with one runner on base. This home run would ultimately win the game for us, 2-1, and Columbia had only one loss prior to this.” It is evident there are big things in store for Kelly who, only a Junior, still has leather to bust at Aucilla. Kelly is the daughter of Kevin and Nicole Horne of Monticello, Fl.
