Kenneth Fredrick “Fred” Burnett, 84, of Hollister, passed from this life on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at his son’s home following an extended illness. He was born in Madison, Fla. and had been a resident of Putnam County since 1969. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 1960 from Florida State University and had worked as an Environmental Inspector for the Putnam County Health Department for 35 years. Fred was the founding member and President of The Tomato Hill Beethoven Society. He was also a past Cubmaster of Pack 64 and Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop #62 sponsored by St. James Methodist Church in Palatka. In his leisure time, Fred enjoyed listening to classical music, making pottery, gardening, and bird watching.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith “Judy” E. Burnett and parents, Kenneth B. and Gertrude Burnett.
He is survived by his son, Andy Burnett (Joni) of Palatka; daughter, Leisa Sykes (Troy Baggett), of San Mateo; as well as five grandchildren: Randi Revels, Paige Revels, Jacob Burnett, Laynie Carnes and Alli Carnes.
Services celebrating Fred’s life were held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at College Park Baptist Church with Pastor Pete Wilkinson officiating. The family received visitors beginning at 4 p.m. and dinner was held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
A graveside service was held in Madison in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haven Hospice of Palatka, A Woman’s Resource Center or College Park Baptist Church.
