Beginning July 6 and lasting until July 10, Kids Crusade 2015: Racing for the Crown of Life took place at Bible Deliverance Church of Madison. Featured at Kid's Crusade 2015 was David MacMeeken and his friend, Rusty, a gospel ventriloquist team. Kids had a blast as they learned about Jesus through David and Rusty's ministry. Their program consisted of gospel illustrations, music, comedy, an offering contest and a Bible lesson. “We had eight decisions for Christ,” said David MacMeeken. “To God be the Glory! We want to thank Pastor Tommy Thigpen and Youth Pastor Bryant Thigpen for sharing their pulpit with us as we ministered the Happy Gospel of Jesus Christ and for all the wonderful meals. Thank you to the congregation and all those involved in the behind the scenes with food, decorations and clean up. We're all anticipating the Crown of Life that's waiting for all who followed Jesus till the end. You don't have to get first place it's how you run the race when you're racing for the crown!” The boys and girls competed each night to give the most offering. The boys ultimately won and, because of this, Boys captain Tommy Thigpen, got to pour oil on Girls captain, Sarah Thigpen. It was all in good fun and everyone was happy they raised money for a good cause. All donations went to David and Rusty and their ministry. The bible verse for the week was John 14:6, Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Kids who memorized the verse got to visit the treasure chest and win a prize.
