During the Thursday, Nov. 3 weekly luncheon meeting, Kiwanis President Elect Jo Willis discussed the Service Leadership Program (SLP) as it relates to student members of the Kiwanis K-Club at Pinetta Elementary School (PES). Willis is the Kiwanis chairperson for SLP in local schools. In addition to providing updates on student activities with the K-Kids Club, Willis applauded PES K-Kids for the structure, organization and mature manner shown in conducting meetings. “K-Kids handled their meetings the same way as adult Kiwanis,” Willis proudly shared. She encouraged members to consider and continue to mentor Kiwanis youth club members.
24 K-Kids members from the fifth and sixth grades at PES kicked off the season of caring with a Thanksgiving canned food drive to benefit the needy. Donations were accepted from Oct. 31 through Nov 7. Proceeds were donated to the Madison County Food Pantry and to the Junior Auxiliary for holiday food baskets.
