On Thursday, March 23, the Madison County Central School (MCCS) Lady Broncos went on the road to Perry to take on the Lady Bullpups of Taylor County Middle School. The Lady Broncos steadily scored runs all afternoon and came out with a 9-3 win. The Lady Broncos wasted no time getting out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Lady Broncos continued to pad their lead until they had a comfortable 9-0 cushion going into the bottom of the final inning. The Lady Bullpups were able to mount a small three-run-rally in the bottom of the seventh, but that was not enough to make much difference in the sizable Lady Bronco lead.
Halie Wetherington went three-for-four at the plate with one RBI. Brianna Thompson had two hits in her three trips to the plate, with one RBI. Essence Thomas had a hit in her only at-bat, driving in one run. Shelby Burt was one-for-two, chalking up two RBIs for the Lady Broncos. Wetherington and Jessie Roberts shared pitching duties for MCCS. Wetherington pitched an almost flawless four innings; giving up no hits or earned runs, while striking out eight batters. Roberts threw for three innings and gave up three hits and three earned runs, chalking up five strike-outs.
With the win, the Lady Broncos improved their record to 10-4.
