On Monday, March 27, the Madison County Central School (MCCS) Lady Broncos entered into post-season play against the Lady Bullpups of Taylor County Middle School. It only took six innings for the Lady Broncos to dispatch the Lady Bullpups with an 11-1 final score. The Lady Broncos gained an early advantage by scoring two runs in the second inning. The Lady Broncos added four runs in the third, three runs in the fifth, and two in the sixth inning before the game was called when Taylor County failed to cut into the Lady Broncos' lead.
Jessie Roberts went two-for-four with three RBIs for the Lady Broncos. Shelby Burt had one hit in her only trip to the plate, scoring one RBI. Brianna Thompson had one hit in three at-bats, driving in one run. Halie Wetherington got the win on the mound for the Lady Broncos, giving up two hits and no earned runs, while registering 10 strike-outs.
In their second post-season game, the Lady Broncos met the Lady Bulldogs of Suwannee County Middle School. This time, the Lady Broncos were defeated with a 5-3 final score. The Lady Broncos fell behind early, giving up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Broncos managed to tie the game at two runs apiece in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Bulldogs responded with two more runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Each team added one run in the fourth inning. The Lady Broncos were unable to cut into the Suwannee County lead after that.
Wetherington had one hit in four at-bats, driving in one run. Roberts went two-for-three with one RBI. Wetherington pitched for the Lady Broncos, striking out three and giving up four hits and no earned runs.
Despite the loss, the Lady Broncos had an impressive season, with 11 wins and five losses.
