The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Lady Warriors ended their regular basketball season on a positive note, amassing a regular season record of 21-5, heading into the Class 2A, District 1 tournament on Friday, Feb. 9.
On Monday, Jan. 29, the Lady Warriors traveled to Tallahassee to face Maclay School. The Lady Warriors came out of the contest with a close 41-40 win.
Camryn Grant led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 17 points and 18 rebounds for a double-double. Abigail Morgan had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Warriors. Grace Beshears and Elizabeth Hightower also added points to the Lady Warriors' total.
The Lady Warriors' fortunes turned when they faced the Lady Eagles of Oak Hall, in Gainesville. This time, the Lady Warriors were on the short end of a 45-39 score.
Grant and Morgan each registered double-doubles for the Lady Warriors. Morgan had 13 points and 16 rebounds. Grant also had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hightower added 10 points for the Lady Warriors. Jessica Giddens also scored for the Lady Warriors.
The Lady Warriors finished their regular season with a win over the Lady Trojans of Hamilton County High School on Friday, Feb. 2. It was Senior Night for the Lady Warriors, and the seniors were sent out in style with a 58-54 victory. The game started out as a close match with the score tied at 15 at the end of the first period. The Lady Trojans carried a close 26-24 advantage into halftime. The Lady Warriors managed to pull ahead during the third quarter and added to their slight lead in the final quarter to finish the evening with the 58-54 win.
The Lady Warriors will be the host team for the Class 2, District 1 tournament. The Lady Warriors have a number one seed and will play in the championship game on Friday, Feb. 9 at Aucilla Christian Academy. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
