On Thursday, April 16, the Aucilla Christian Academy Lady Warriors beat their rival, Robert F. Munroe Day School, 13-0, and won the district championship. The lead would remain with the girls for the rest of the game after they scored in the first inning on an RBI single by Taylor Copeland. The Lady Warriors scored in the fifth on another RBI single by Taylor Copeland, a groundout by Emma Witmer, an RBI single by Ramsey Sullivan, an RBI single by Carly Joiner and a home run by Natalie Sorensen. “Sorensen ended the game for us with a walk off grand slam to make the final score 13-0,” said Head Coach Becky Lauth. Sorensen was on a roll, as she also racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lady Warriors. “Abigail Morgan was on the mound for our big win in the championship game and pitched a phenomenal game,” said Lauth. The pitcher allowed only one hit, no earned runs, walked three and struck out six. Standout players for the Lady Warriors include Emma Witmer, who went 3-2, racking up two singles, one RBI and one run scored; Natalie Sorensen, who went 3-2, racking up one single, one grand slam homerun, four RBIs and two runs scored; Ramsey Sullivan, who went 4-2, racking up two singles, one RBI and two runs scored; and Elizabeth Hightower who went 4-2, racking up one single, one double, one RBI and one run scored. “I am extremely proud of the girls, not only their stellar performance on Thursday in the Championship game, but throughout this entire season,” said Lauth. “They knew this season would not be easy and yet they remained fearless when facing our competitors. As long as these girls keep working hard and performing the way they have been all season, I look for nothing but big things to come during this post season run.”
