Mrs. Lala Virginia Bowen, 88, passed away on Sunday, Mar. 5, 2017 in the Lyerly Neurological Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl.
Virginia was born on Mar. 24, 1928 in Madison, Fl. to Lloyd Richardson and Lala McCullough Richardson. She was of the Baptist faith. Prior to marriage, Virginia completed two years at Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Fl. After graduating from college, she worked as a secretary at her husband’s business, Don Bowen Insurance in Madison. She doted on her only grandson Travis and had great love for her family. Virginia enjoyed watching the many birds that would gather at her bird feeders.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Donald C. Bowen, Jr., and two brothers, Waldon and Coleman Richardson.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Don Bowen of Madison; two daughters, Teresa Drane (Frank) of Jacksonville, Fl., and Donna Jean Bowen of Madison; one grandson, Travis Drane (Lindsey) of Jacksonville, Fl.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison with Father Joe Boyles officiating. Interment services will follow in the Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 9 at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
