Mr. Larry Thompkins, age 79, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lee, Fla. on Nov. 22, 1940 to his parents, Joseph and Myrtice Hadden Tompkins. He lived most of his life in Lee, Fla. He loved to hunt and fish.
He worked at Cherry Farms, Cantey Motor Company, Blanton Logging and Madison County School Board as a mechanic where he retired in 2009. He was an active member of Midway Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Myrtice Tompkins, of Lee; one son, Jody (Jessica) Tompkins, of Pinetta; two daughters: Kim (John) Nowotarski of Florence, KY, and Lori Blount, of Lee; three grandchildren: Allen Bland, Ashlyn Blount and Joseph Tompkins; two great-grandchildren: Inger Mae and Gunner Bland; three extended family members: Michael and Travis Albritton, and William Wilson.
He was predeceased by his adopted grandmother, Mary Tompkins; four sisters: Jean Kettle, Freda Rincon, Martha Kelly and Gussie Knight.; one son-in-law, Danny Blount.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Madison, Fla. with interment following at Corinth Primitive Church Cemetery in Lee, Fla. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.
