Lee Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in Lee on Levy Road on Sunday, May 31 around 10 p.m. There was significant lightning and heavy rain and wind in the area when the fire occurred. According to one of the occupants of the house, there were three occupants at the time of the fire and two were burned. The two were transported to the Madison County Memorial Hospital via personal vehicle. Jeanie Phillips is the owner of the house and she was injured in the fire. The identity of the other occupants are unknown. According to the report, the singlewide mobile home had major fire damage to over 50 percent of the home. The house is most likely a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown but appears to have started in the back bedroom area of the house. The State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate. Lee Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Madison Fire Rescue and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
