The Lee Town Council met for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m., at Kinsey Hall. The agenda only had a few items for discussion which led to a short meeting. The first item of discussion was the rental rate of Fastpack Packaging owned by Jason Archambault in the Lee Business Complex. At the February meeting, the council approved an increase from $1151.93 (including taxes) to a base rate to $1175 plus taxes. At the time of the decision the council was under the impression that the rate had not increased in several years. Archambault told the council that Fastpack Packing rent had recently had a 21 percent increase in 2012, without adding any additional space and this new increase was 10 percent. With the new information, the council voted 4-0 to increase the rate only four percent. His new rent will be $1,198 (including taxes). Town Manager John Anderson announced that a Public Works Technician was hired to replace Kerry Gardiner who resigned in February. Aaron Beck started Monday, March 2 and is on three-month probation. County Commissioner, Rick Davis, attended the meeting to inform the council that Rogers Sink Road in Lee was on the Florida Department of Transportation’s list to be paved this year. The next meeting will be April 7 at 7 p.m. at Kinsey Hall.
