On Friday, July 21, the Lee Elementary School (LES) staff and community were invited to come help in a school clean-up day. We wanted to beautify the school before students return. We had a couple of parents come to help. Jessica Folk came and replanted the 6 planters by the front door. Carin Daniels, along with her children, Weston and Kenley, joined us as well. They helped clean windows and anything else that needed to be done. My son, Pierce, came and trimmed tree limbs that were overgrown. My daughter, Emily, and Ms. Hubbard (kindergarten teacher) cleaned, sanded and painted student benches in the front office.
We also had the support of several school board members. Katie Knight and Devin Thompson were here bright and early. They helped clean fish tanks, weed-eat and clean. Ms. Thompson brought along her four children. They worked so hard to help put out pine straw, pressure wash, weed-eat and clean. Carol Gibson and Bart Alford brought by generous monetary donations to help purchase flowers and other items needed for the school clean-up. Mr. Frith, of Studstill in Madison, donated a large supply of plants for the front flower beds. My husband, David Minor, purchased Chic-Fil-A for lunch for all who attended. I cannot express enough my thanks to all who made the day a success. It was hot and hard work, but our kids are worth it!
