Lewis “Lou” Stanley Peterson, 76, of Madison Fla., gained his wings on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center.
Graveside rites will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at Weeks Chapel. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
Born on Jan. 18, 1944 in East Norwalk, Conn., he was the son of the late Charles Peterson and Elizabeth Kealer Peterson. Mr. Peterson was a truck driver with Manning Trucking and was a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge #11. Lou is remembered for his deep love of his family and was especially proud to be called Papa Lou. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his dog, Trouble.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Peterson and Clayton Peterson; his best buddy in life, Harold Weeks.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Mae Bullard Peterson of Madison Fla.; sons: Carl (Maria) Peterson, Lewis (Louise) Peterson, Jr., and Curt Peterson, all of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; daughters: Elizabeth Peterson, of Tennessee, Melissa (Ed) McQuaig, of Manor, Ga., Shirley Weeks, of Quitman, Ga.; grandchildren: Brittany (Jeremy) Brown, Casey (Pat) Taylor, Cortney (Daniel) Hall, Jeremy (Kristi) Williams, Nina Peterson, Michael (Alex) Peterson, Birdie Peterson, Adam (Brittany) Peterson, Jenny Peterson, Dustin Peterson, Josh Peterson and Bobbi Jo Peterson; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandsons in the oven; brother, Carl (Nancy) Peterson, of Madison Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
