On Thursday, Aug. 5, the Madison County Central School (MCCS) hosted an assembly of staff in the gym, including the principals from the surrounding schools and other supporting faculty. Superintendent Shirley Joseph began with opening remarks, before handing off the podium to Ina Thompson, Vice President of the Lions Club in Madison County. Thompson and Katherine Brooks both spoke to the audience about the Lions Club and what they do, along with the thought process behind the awards being presented. Although the Lions Club did not pick the specific teachers who received the awards, they were happy to be able to be a part of the ceremony, and hope to present teachers with certificates and awards on a yearly basis.
The prize for each teacher included a gift bag, a cup, umbrella and other items, along with the $500 certificate for school supplies.
Each teacher was presented their award by Treasurer Tim Dunn and Vice President Ina Thompson from the Lions Club.
