Fourth generation showman, JD Peavy, 12, of Madison, attended the Prospect Steer and Heifer Show that was held by the Junior Florida Cattlemen’s Association in Kissimmee, Florida on July 23-25. Exhibitors came from all over Florida and some from Georgia and bulls, steers and heifers were shown. JD showed in the Bred and Owned Show on July 23, which is for cattle that were born and raised on the exhibitor’s farm. He showed two steers, Roscoe and Enos, and both won their individual weight classes. His steer, Roscoe, won Reserve Champion Bred and Owned Steer. He was presented with a buckle and banner for his accomplishment. He also showed both steers in the open show on July 25, that included steers bought from other cattle producers from across the nation. Both of his steers won their individual weight classes. JD is in the 7th grade at Lowndes Middle School. He's an officer in FFA and a member of the Hickory Grove 4-H club. He is the son of Opie and Paige Peavy, brother of Lane Peavy and grandson of Delbert and Martha Jane Blair, Joe and Suzanne Peavy and the late Shirley Peavy.
