Eleventh grader Kaitlyn Farnell attended the State Solo and Ensemble on Monday, March 23 at F.W. Bucholz High School in Gainesville. Students who attended must have performed a musical selection at the local level at a Grade 5 or higher and earned a superior rating. At the event, students perform a piece and are judged by a professional on their perspective instrument on performance fundamentals, technical accuracy and musical effort. Farnell received a superior rating with her performance of Syrinx by Claude Debussy on the flute. Her judge was Susan McQuinn. “This was a very rewarding, exciting experience to perform for Ms. Susan McQuinn and I received very valuable suggestions that will benefit me in my upcoming solo performances,” said Farnell.
