Madison County Sheriff – elect David Harper, reports that Madison County has recently experienced an increase in vehicle burglaries countywide. Most of these burglaries have been to unlocked/unsecured vehicles with valuables left out in the open in plain sight. In response, the sheriff's office will be supplementing patrol with additional personnel to provide extra coverage throughout the county.
"These burglaries are being committed by a group of criminals who are seeking out easy targets such as unlocked vehicles with valuables laying out in the open. Please help secure your property by locking your doors, removing valuables and parking in a well-lit area when possible. Report any suspicious person(s), vehicle(s) or activity that you may witness. If you see something, say something. It will make a difference," stated Harper.
If you have any information about these burglaries, please call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at (850) 973-4152 or (850) 973-4001.
