Louise Pickles Strickland, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 at Hanson Methodist Church with burial at Hanson Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.
Strickland was born and raised in Madison County. She attended Shaw School then graduated in 1953 from Madison County High School. She married Elbert Strickland on September 13, 1959. She was a volunteer for Big Bend Hospice for 19 years and also volunteered for United Methodist Cooperative Ministries and Pine Tree Quilters. Strickland was active in the community and always involved. She was an active member of Hanson United Methodist Church and also a Certified Nursing Assistant at Madison Health and Rehabilitation.
She was survived by her husband, Elbert Strickland; one son, Glen Strickland (Tiffany) of Madison; two daughters, Connie Peterson (John) and Carol Rykard of Madison; her brother, Douglas Pickles (Shannon) of Hamilton County; her sister, Ann Nash (Hubert) of Madison; sister-in-law, Wynema Pickles of Dowling Park; six grandchildren: Dillon Rykard of Graceville, Fl., Nickolas Rykard of Madison, Eric Rykard of Madison, Courtney Strickland of Jacksonville, Camryn Strickland of Madison and Zackery Peterson of Madison and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. C and Mamie Pickles; brother, Wallace Pickles; sister, Rosie Tuten and sister-in-law, Prissy Pickles.
