On Friday, Dec. 3, Madison Books graciously opened their doors to six-time author Jimmy Deas, who spoke on his books and the inspirations behind them. Before becoming an author, Deas dedicated 36 years of his life to being a baptist pastor. He first fell into writing when his wife was diagnosed with an incurable bone marrow disease. Her treatments would take upwards of 10 to 12 hours each, and he would take his laptop to write as he listened to the stories of others around him.
“A Teacher’s Gift and Other Stories” and “Just a Dog and Other Stories” are story books Deas wrote solely from his personal experiences. He implements comedy into the books, making them relatable to the reader.
“Ran Like Joseph,” “Just have Faith” and “Prodigal Sons” are a trilogy of books about a young pastor and his journey. Deas shared that in “Ran Like Joseph,” he left his personal information in the back of his book, not realizing people would continuously reach out to him asking for a sequel, and so, he obeyed. His books have become so loved, that he is currently working on the fourth edition to his series.
If anyone is interested in purchasing any of Deas' books, they are all available on Amazon.
