On Sunday, April 17, Madison Church of Christ held a mortgage burning in celebration of paying off their 30-year mortgage in just a mere 18 months.
After regular service, Edward Meggs, President of Madison County Community Bank enjoyed lunch alongside of his wife with the members of Madison Church of Christ. Jim Stanley, treasurer of the church, struck the match box and set the mortgage ablaze.
“[This is] incredible,” said Stanley. “Most people find it hard to believe [that we paid off the mortgage so quickly.” In addition, Stanley mentioned that the church's remodeling fees have also been paid off.
“The Lord has really blessed us,” said Stanley.
