On Sunday, Oct. 24, members and guests of Madison Church of God celebrated their anniversary in style, with a burning of their mortgage for the Family Life Center. Pastor Jason Justus had a large replica of their final payment to Madison County Community Bank for $13,445 on hand as part of the celebration.
Along with plenty of praise and worship, the congregation enjoyed the message delivered by their guest speaker, First Assistant General Overseer of the Church of God Dr. Raymond Culpepper, who is a long-time friend of Pastor Justus. Another special treat for those in attendance was a recorded message from Marilyn Weeks, who, along with her husband, Rev. Ronnie Weeks, pastored the church for many years. Rev. Weeks passed away in 2000.The Family Life Center is named in Rev. Weeks' honor. Ronnie Weeks, Jr. and his family were present for the service and mortgage burning.
After the service, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and some fellowship in the Family Life Center.
