On March 28, at the Madison Country Club, Madison Church of God hosted a golf tournament in order to raise money for the Ronnie Weeks Family Life Center building fund. The event was a success, with many church members, citizens and even attendees from Dowling Park Church of God, showing up to support the cause. “God blessed us,” said Madison Church of God Pastor Jason Justus. “It was a great success and a great day.” Tommy Hester won longest putt and closest to the pin and Will Bozeman, at 15 years old, won longest drive. Dowling Park Church of God's team won the tournament. The golf tournament raised a grand total of $1,600 for the Family Life Center. Ronnie Weeks, former pastor of Madison Church of God, felt God was calling his church to construct a family life center-- its sole purpose to serve the community and help Madison Church of God minister to the masses. Pastor Weeks was tragically killed in a car accident many years ago. However, his heart and love for the Madison community lives on. He gave his life for God and Madison and now, the church body is ready to make Weeks' vision a reality. The life center will serve many purposes. The building will include plenty of space for large gatherings, as well as extra sunday school classrooms. There will be media and lighting for performances, a large-scale kitchen, a full-sized basketball court and plenty of space for parents to come and watch their kids play. The building will serve many purposes for the church, however it will also be available for community use. Businesses and organizations will be welcome to hold meetings, gatherings or parties and parents are invited to bring their kids to play. In addition, the church hopes to begin Upward Basketball and a Summer day camp.
