A church that isn’t active is a declining church and is on the verge of a spiritual death. It’s important that a church doesn’t die within its walls and stop doing ministry for families and for people inside their church. Just as important as working within its four walls is the ability and willingness to minister to the county and city. In keeping with this belief, Madison Church of God has planned the following events for people in Madison (city and county):
June 19 – 23: Day Camp 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Ages from 4-11 years of age (Must be potty trained) $75.00 a week.
July 2: 10 a.m. Freedom Service
Sept. 3: Labor Day Picnic (Inflatables, games, horseback riding, and many other activities, plus free food)
Oct. 16 – 31: Pumpkin Patch (There will be a new provider this year with pumpkins).
December 3: Santa is coming to town.
All activities will be able to be seen on the church’s newly updated website madisonchurchofgod.us.
According to Madison Church of God’s pastor, Jason Justus, you should choose Madison Church of God “because you come as friends, and leave as family.” The congregation believes they “are not just many families, but MANY families that become one Family.”
The church tries to have something for the whole family, but the most important part about what they do is making sure that children, teens, and adults will all hear the Word of God! “We don’t patty cake the Word of God. It is what it says. But we love you,” said Pastor Justus.
“No matter what your past is, we are a church of no judgment, but of love. I’ve found that if you love people through their sin, God will clean the fish as long as we go fish,” said Justus.
Ongoing ministries offered to various age groups include: MK-Madison Kids, with Children’s Pastors Roland and Jennifer Herndon; ECHO and EHCO Jr. (Middle School) Student Ministries. ECHO is led by Youth Pastors Branton and Jillian Treglown, and ECHO, Jr. (for middle schoolers) is led by Associate Youth Pastor Kristin Lynn Blue.
H12 is the name for the men’s ministry, and Pastor Bentley Cox coordinates their meetings and activities. Amber Justus works with the Ladies’ ministry. Janet Diamond heads the ministry geared toward young adults, and Amber Justus coordinates the drama ministry.
Madison Church of God also has a missions department with Jacob Everhart and Janet Diamond serving as coordinators. Mike Kirkland is the Media Director; Wayne Diamond serves the church as Music Director.
The church is also starting a College & Career ministry with Pastor Rodney McKinley providing oversight.
