Every year, the Madison Church of God puts on a play production on the second Saturday and Sunday of December. This year, the church presented “Jesus Loves Fruit Cakes,” a Christmas comedy directed by Amber Justus, on Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13. The play was about an atheist who was put in a Christian elderly home called Jesus House. The residents at the facility are so kooky that they were the “fruit cakes” of the play, thus the name. Throughout the play, the atheist learns that Jesus loves everyone, regardless of their different backgrounds. Overall, there were 22 characters on stage, and they have been practicing since August. “It was a relief when the play was over,” said Justus. “It was also bittersweet because you become family with everyone a part of the play.” Madison Church of God would like to thank all of the staff for helping out with the play, including Carter Jordan Herring, stage worker; Co-coordinators Rodney Mckinley and Rodney Mckinley and Assistant Kristen Blue.
