The word “community” can't be spelled without “unity.” Employees from O'Neal's Country Buffet and several volunteers demonstrated unity when they pulled together on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4 and showed exactly what it means to be a part of this wonderful community of Madison by building Agnes Studstill a ramp outside of her house. Agnes Studstill, who will be turning 100 in November, has a medical condition that makes it difficult for her to get in and out of the neighborhood. Thankfully, members of the community formed a solution to Studstill's problem and decided to build the ramp. Keri English of O'Neal's organized the group and Dan Williams was the head contractor. Faye Ludwig, a friend of Studstill's, felt very blessed that the community came together to provide Studstill with what she needed. “How often do people get together and take the time and effort to come and do the work [for someone in need]?” said Ludwig. “We are so proud and so happy that [the community] came together. It's a real blessing.” Thanks to the generous volunteers and restaurant staff, Studstill is able to comfortably and efficiently venture out into the neighborhood again and run errands or enjoy lunch. “She's independent and walking well,” said Ludwig. “It's nice to get out of the house,” said Studstill about the new ramp.
