With the weather turning a bit warmer, a certain level of excitement always begins to fill the air. Baseball and softball season can't be far behind. Parents and guardians only have until Thursday, Feb. 16, to sign their youngsters up and take advantage of the early registration rate of $75. After that, the final chance to sign up will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Madison County Recreation Park.
The Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken baseball and softball program teaches the proper fundamentals of the game to youngsters as young as four years of age. This is done in an age-appropriate manner that emphasizes good sportsmanship and having fun playing the game. Many of the youngsters who begin playing baseball and softball in the Madison County Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken program have gone on to have success playing for the Cowboys and Cowgirls at Madison County High School and even at the college level.
Tryouts for the season are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m., at the Madison County Recreation Park, located at 753 SW Anastasia Way, in Madison. The tryouts are to merely ensure correct placement of the youngsters.
The Madison County Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken baseball and softball season is set to have their opening day on Saturday, March 25, at 10 a.m., at the Madison County Recreation Park. There will be food and fun activities for the entire family in addition to baseball and softball games for all ages.
