The Madison County High School (MCHS) athletic program was recently awarded the Cary McDonald Award by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) as the Class 1A Athletic Program of the Year for the 2019-20 school year. This marks the third time the MCHS athletic program has won the award. MCHS previously won the honor for the 2012-13 school year, when MCHS was considered a Class 4A school and for the 2016-17 school year.
The award is presented to the top school in each classification based on “whole school membership” and the school's athletic program's finish in the Florida High School Athletic Association's Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All-Sports Award.
The award is named after Cary McDonald, the second Executive Director of FACA.
