A Madison County man was shot and wounded on Saturday, May 2 at 1:30 a.m. According to the Madison Police Department, a deputy was dispatched to the Madison County Memorial Hospital emergency room where 28-year-old Gordon Lewis, of Madison, had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper left chest. Lieutenant James Roebuck assisted at the scene and said the victim, Lewis, refused to cooperate and provide information. A Madison County Sheriff’s deputy left the hospital to patrol the south side of the city limits and returned to the hospital at 2:45 a.m. and received further information. According to Tina Demotsis, Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigator said the shooting was believed to have occurred in Madison Heights or the Jeanette Circle area. Demotsis reported that the case was being turned over to the police department because the shooting occurred in the city limits. Demotsis said the victim was still not providing information and being uncooperative. She said Lewis was unable to be reached due to already being transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. At first, officials said they believed the incident occurred south of the city limits in the Georgetown area because of the reported gunshots that occurred previously to the victim’s arrival at the hospital. The case is pending for victim cooperation or further information.
