Madison County native and former judge honored

During the regular meeting of the Madison County Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday, Dec. 11, the commissioners unanimously passed a proclamation honoring Judge Augustus D. Aikens, Jr. Aikens recently retired as Leon County, Florida’s longest-serving judge. Aikens was appointed to the bench in 1997 by Gov. Lawton Chiles. The Leon County courthouse was recently renamed in his honor. Aikens was a 1967 graduate of Madison High School. [osd_s
