Madison County Sheriff David Harper announces that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has recently deployed two new Dodge Challengers to its fleet of patrol units. These two new units replaced two older, high-mileage Dodge Chargers with increasing maintenance costs. Just as the Chargers were, these new Challengers are assigned to the Sheriff’s Office traffic unit.
The Challengers were chosen because of the lack of availability of the Dodge Charger pursuit model. However, the Challengers and the specific color and markings have enhanced public awareness and have already proven to help establish positive relations with our younger drivers throughout the county. On numerous occasions, our younger drivers self-engage in productive conversations with the assigned deputies and even take photographs with them.
These two new Challengers assigned to the traffic unit will continue to be utilized to target aggressive and speeding drivers throughout the county and address those specific areas of high-traffic complaints.
