During the Madison County School's Award Ceremony, held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, winners of the Creative Writing Competition were honored, recognizing all grade-level winners. The Madison County School District's creative writing winners for kindergarten are Jesiah Arnold, from Pinetta Elementary School (PES), first place; and Colton King, from Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA), runner up.
The first-grade winner was Jasmine Sardina, from Lee Elementary School (LES); with Liv James, from (MCAA), taking the runner up position. The second-grade honors went to Brentley Vida, of PES, taking first place and Kensi Webb, from MCAA, as the runner up. Third-place winners were MCAA's Jonathan Churchwell, taking first place, and PES's Molly Law earning the runner-up spot. Julio Ortega , from MCAA, took first place in the fourth-grade division, and LES's Ja'Hailian Mitchell was the runner up. For the fifth grade, first place went to Emily Webb, of PES, while MCAA's Cora Wilson was the runner up. Selah Peacock rose to the top in the sixth grade, representing LES, with PES's Kase Walker as the runner up. The seventh grade first-place honors went to Riley Sheffield, from MCAA, with Madison County Central School's (MCCS) Zaccuria Tillman winning as runner up. MCAA's Sadie Curtis won first place in the eighth-grade division.
Cheyanne Brooks, from Madison County High School (MCHS), was the ninth-grade first-place winner, with Daisy Henderson, also of MCHS, as the runner up. Twelfth-grade winners were Chakeria McCrary, of MCHS, taking first place, while James Madison Preparatory High School's Des'Tanee Smiley took the honors as runner up. Congratulations to all of these students for a job well done.
