The Madison Creative Arts Academy would like to extend an invitation to the community to take part in their Fine Arts Exhibition which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Lee First Baptist Church. The art exhibit will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the winter concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission to this event is free.
Misti Archambault, art teacher at Madison Creative Arts Academy, shares that there will be an art gallery set up in the foyer of Lee First Baptist Church. Featured art will be from thirty one middle school art students. Art displayed will consist of projects that the students have completed this year in the Art Elective classes. There will be a showing of mixed media self portraits, community perspective drawings, draped clay bowls, clay landscapes and color-field paintings inspired by the artist Mark Rothko and much more.
MCAA Director of Bands, Dillard's Polikarpov, shares that he is incredibly proud of all of his music students this year, but he is especially encouraged at how hard his sixth Grade Band has grown and improved during this school year. One of the featured performances in the Winter Concert will be a combined percussion and vocal rendition of “Jingle Bells” delivered by the second grade students. Ensembles performing during the concert will include the sixth Grade Beginner Band, the seventh and eighth Grade Jazz Band, and the seventh and eighth Grade Concert Band. Band Captain Laurie Thigpen will direct one of the Concert Band pieces as a student director. Polikarpov says that one special piece, titled “Salvation is Created,” will be performed in memory of members of the community who have passed away this year.
Be sure to come and support these students who have worked hard creating beautiful masterpieces and learning lovely holiday music.
