On Saturday, August 15, at the Florida Kiwanis District’s Annual Convention held in Destin, Florida, at the San Destin Golf and Beach Resort, Lieutenant Governor Elect, Jerome Wyche of Madison, Florida, was installed as the next Lieutenant Governor to lead Division III for the 2015 – 2016 Kiwanis year. Wyche, joined by his spouse, Cora Peacock Wyche, joined 25 other Lieutenant Governor Electees and their spouses from 25 Divisions throughout the state of Florida, at center stage during the 98th Annual Convention, to be officially installed and pinned as Lieutenant Governor’s. The 2015 – 2016 Florida Kiwanis District Governor, Dr. Celia D.A. Earle, expressed her appreciation and excitement as she installed her new Lieutenant Governors to their new positions and reminded them of the expectations, dedication and leadership for the Florida Kiwanis District and Kiwanis International. Wyche’s responsibilities extends to 15 Kiwanis Clubs throughout the north central portion of Florida, where each club is managed by a Club President, his/her Officers, a Board of Directors and club membership.
“Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time” is embedded in the hearts of Kiwanians throughout the world. Governor Earle has set into motion her theme for her Kiwanis Governor’s Year, “Passion for People! Passion for Service!” Her goals and objectives are clear and her attentiveness to detail will continue to keep Florida as one of the leading Districts in Kiwanis International. Governor Earl will continue with the international efforts of Kiwanis International in partnership with UNICEF to raise $110 Million dollars to eliminate neo-natal tetanus from 23 remaining third world countries around the world, internationally known as “Project Eliminate.” To date, all collective funding sources have surpassed $100 million dollars with the state of Florida helping to lead the way. Governor Earle has coined her very own personal phrase for her project, known as the Governor’s Project, “Christmas in July” with emphasis on children and families. Effective October 1, 2015, Wyche will officially assume the responsibility and take the reins from the current 2014-2015 Division III Lieutenant Governor, Steve Sullivan, of Tallahassee, Florida.
Coincidentally, Sullivan and Wyche are both military retirees, retiring from the United States Air Force and at the same rank of E-8. They both follow a long list of successful Past Lieutenant Governors from Florida, however, the most recent ones, all from Tallahassee, are pictured, along with the 2016 – 2017 Lieutenant Governor Elect, Benjamin Woody Price, also of Tallahassee, Florida. If there is a sincere interest in helping to improve the world, one child and one community at a time, starting right here at home, now is the time to seize the moment… the Kiwanis Club of Madison is the place for you. “Our communities will thrive and make giant steps toward improving the quality of life for our citizens in need, but only when all people work together.” Wyche's motto in achieving results is actually uncomplicated…”Let’s get it done.”
