It was a very special "Business After Hours" on Tuesday, Aug. 16, when the Madison Lions Club hosted the event in honor of their 80th year of service to the Madison community. The event was held at the Madison Church of Christ, in a packed Fellowship Hall.
Madison Lions Club member Jim Sale spoke to those present of the history of the Madison club, which is the oldest, continuously serving service club in Madison. Lions Club member John McQuaid received special recognition as "Lion of the Year" for his selfless service both to the club and to the community as well. Lions Club President Ina Thompson also recognized special members of the audience, which included several local government leaders, as well as Rep. Allison Tant, who took time to attend the celebration.
The monthly Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" mixers are held the third Tuesday of each month at a different chamber member's location. They are a great way of getting to know the various business and community leaders of Madison in a relaxed atmosphere. They are always free and open to the public.
The next Madison Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Southern Rust, located at 465 SE Seaboard St., in Lee.
